In June 2008, Tetra
participated in the inaugural Texas 200 Cruise. This event involved
several dozen sailboats' journey from the southern tip of Texas to a
destination 200 miles up the Gulf Coast. For more information on

The video clips below were shot using a small
"palm-sized" camcorder. Because the filmographer was also the
helmsman, the video quality is not optimal. But, it will give you a
good idea of the event and the conditions that Tetra encountered.
On Saturday, June 7, sailors and sailboats
began arriving at Port Mansfield, TX. Most boats and crews were from
the region, but some traveled in from distant states--even distant
countries. On Sunday, boats were launched and a caravan of tow
vehicles left for the event destination of Magnolia Beach, TX. Once
the tow vehicles were parked, a shuttle bus brought the crews back to
their boats in Port Mansfield.
At sunrise on Monday, June 9, sailboats
began putting out to sea and turning north. Four days later, many of
these boats arrived at Magnolia Beach, while some fell out along the way.
Some boats succumbed to mechanical failure while others found the
conditions simply too rough for safe passage making. Those crews
that reached the destination met up with many happy, tired sailors that
had achieved a difficult and challenging goal.
